Representative Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ) commented:
Following the transcribed interview, I am confident in stating that Howard Lutnick is a pathological liar involved in a significant cover-up in American history.
We thoroughly examined the timeline of events with him, starting from his 2005 meeting with Jeffrey Epstein alongside his wife. Lutnick had previously detailed this encounter on a podcast, describing how they visited Epstein’s home and were disturbed by the presence of massage tables. He claimed on the podcast that he would not engage with Epstein socially or professionally again.
However, in 2012, he took his family and staff to Epstein’s island. I questioned how he could do this if they were truly uncomfortable, especially after Epstein’s 2008 accusation and subsequent deal for soliciting a minor. Lutnick claimed ignorance of these events.
I asked how, as a child, I was aware of Epstein’s media coverage, yet as an adult neighbor and acquaintance, he was not. The level of deception occurring without video documentation is astonishing and part of this cover-up. I urge every American to read the interview transcript upon its release. Lutnick describes his island visit as ‘inexplicable and unsettling’ and repeatedly labels their interactions as ‘meaningless and inconsequential,’ using these terms about 20 times.
It’s crucial to remember the real victims: potentially over 1,000 women abused and raped as minors. At the very least, Lutnick was aware of these events, highlighting a culture of enabling crimes by powerful figures like Epstein and others. Lutnick knew these incidents were widely reported but continued to associate with Epstein, thereby legitimizing him.
Howard Lutnick faces allegations of lying to Congress and altering his narrative regarding Epstein, with Democrats questioning whether he consulted Donald Trump prior to his testimony.
