A 27-year-old man was arrested on Saturday in connection with the fatal stabbing of a neighbor in their Brooklyn apartment building. The arrest followed an intense argument, according to a criminal complaint and local residents.
Authorities reported that Jayvon Boyd stabbed Frank Brown in the chest at 429 Bainbridge St. around 7:40 p.m. on Friday. The incident began with a disagreement between the two men, as noted in the criminal complaint.
During the argument, the situation escalated physically. Brown struck Boyd with a broomstick, causing him to fall. Boyd retaliated by stabbing Brown once he got back on his feet, the complaint detailed.
According to the complaint, Brown suffered two stab wounds, one to each side of his chest.
A disturbing video captured the aftermath, showing Brown exiting the building with blood on his blue shirt, while an unidentified woman and Boyd, holding a white object, followed him, the complaint indicated.
Police located Brown at the crossroads of Bainbridge Street and Howard Avenue just a few minutes later, according to officials.
Emergency services transported the injured Brown to One Brooklyn Health-Interfaith Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, authorities confirmed.
Authorities apprehended Boyd the following day.
Initially, Boyd denied responsibility to investigators; however, he later changed his statement, the complaint revealed.
He subsequently admitted to being the individual seen in the video and informed authorities that the knife used in the stabbing was concealed in his living room, according to the complaint.
Boyd appeared in Brooklyn Criminal Court for arraignment on Sunday, where he was remanded, as per court documents.
