A newly released interrogation video captures the unsettling moment when a transgender individual confessed to killing her parents, attributing the crime to her mother’s interference with her gender transition surgery.
Mia Bailey, 30, admitted to killing her parents, Gail and Joseph Bailey, in their Washington, Utah home in 2024, according to footage obtained by KUTV.
Currently serving two life sentences, Bailey told investigators that her mental health had been deteriorating over the years, which she claimed underscored the necessity for her surgery.
Bailey accused her mother of attempting to sabotage her transition, citing “boundary issues” as a persistent problem.
āI had one thing going on, and she took that away from me. She canāt say sorry to save her life, apparently. And I gave her so many chances throughout my life,ā Bailey stated.
Reflecting on her family dynamics, Bailey added, āI spent years trying to fix that broken family. Eventually, I had to get out, either going to kill myself or kill.ā
During the interrogation, Bailey also detailed how she carried out the killings. āI went to my parents to do the deed. Kill them,ā she confessed. āIt was spur-of-the-moment. I donāt regret it. I hate them. That was the last straw.ā
She admitted to purchasing a gun from a nearby pawn shop and firing 12 rounds before fleeing from law enforcement.
Following an extensive manhunt, Bailey was eventually captured. She concluded the interrogation by asserting that individuals should be able to pursue gender transitions without external interference.
In December, she received two 25-year life sentences after pleading guilty to the murders.
