A confrontation near the Howard CTA station in Rogers Park led to a shooting on Thursday afternoon, according to Chicago police. The altercation involved a 39-year-old man who was injured when another individual drew a gun during the dispute.
Police reported that the incident began as a verbal argument, which then escalated into a physical fight. During the altercation, the second individual, whose age has yet to be confirmed, fired a weapon.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the calf and was transported to Saint Francis Hospital, where he is in good condition, according to police.
Following the shooting, officers utilized CPD surveillance cameras to track the suspect to the 7400 block of North Paulina Street. The suspect was apprehended, and a firearm was recovered, police stated.
This incident marks the fifth shooting in Rogers Park this year. Notably, three of these incidents, including the latest, have occurred within a couple of blocks of each other on Paulina Street. Earlier this year, on February 15, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the 7700 block of North Paulina, and on February 25, a 26-year-old man was shot in the same area.
The only fatal shooting in the area this year was the murder of Loyola University freshman Sheridan Gorman, which occurred on March 19 at the pier on Loyola Beach.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings.
Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
