The WWE is undergoing some roster adjustments, with a notable former AEW talent set to make her appearance on SmackDown.
Blake Monroe, who was known as Mariah May in AEW, has been with the NXT lineup since June of last year. Following a successful stint in Tony Khan’s organization, Monroe transitioned to the Stamford-based promotion, bringing with her a flair and charm that made her a standout. During her time in NXT, she secured the Women’s North American Championship by defeating Zaria.
Thanks for the submission!
Last month, a SmackDown episode featured a vignette announcing that Blake Monroe would soon be joining the blue brand. In an interview with Vicente BeltrĂĄn, Monroe expressed her enthusiasm about working with Triple H, stating:
“Now I get to work with Triple H. Based off of my real life name, my nickname at school was Triple M because everyone was like, âSheâs the wrestling fan.â And then everybody watched WWE, so we knew John Cena, Batista, Triple H, everyone. So I was Triple M. Iâm so excited to work with him. Iâve been at SmackDown. I havenât debuted yet, but every week itâs possible. I see how hands-on he is in terms of producing matches or things that he wants. Iâm really excited to kind of get that knowledge, and I think Iâm really lucky to have access to that and to have access to these people who have had such amazing careers. Now theyâre gonna share a bit of knowledge with The Glamour.”
Blake Monroe wants to face Asuka in WWE
Blake Monroe considers Asuka to be one of the top wrestlers in the women’s division.
In the same interview, Monroe shared her admiration for Asuka, commenting:
“So, Asuka, to me, is one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world. I remember watching her after the [Royal] Rumble, wrestling Charlotte Flair, and thinking, ‘Wow,’ like she’s something special. And I feel she came to WWE, and she elevated the NXT women’s locker room. She elevated the main roster locker room, too. I don’t know where her heart is or what her decision is, but I would love to wrestle her one day. For me, I’m kinda heartbroken, like if this is it, but I also respect her and what a career she’s had. So, I mean, she’s amazing,” Monroe said.
With Asuka currently inactive in WWE, the opportunity for Blake Monroe to face her remains uncertain.
