In the IPL 2026 match held in Ahmedabad on Thursday, May 21, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Shivam Dube executed a remarkable catch to dismiss Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill. Gill scored 64 runs from 37 balls, featuring three sixes and four boundaries, before being dismissed. This wicket, taken by Spencer Johnson, broke the 125-run partnership between Gill and Sai Sudharsan.
Gill’s dismissal occurred in the 13th over of the first innings. Johnson delivered a fuller-length ball at a speed of 140 kmph from around the wicket. Gill attempted a flick, but the ball caught a thick top edge and soared into the sky. Dube, keeping a steady eye on the ball, moved backwards a few yards and completed the catch as he fell to the ground.

GT in Control Against CSK in IPL 2026 Match
Gujarat Titans (GT) showcased a dominant batting performance against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their IPL 2026 match, thanks to the efforts of Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill.
At the current stage of the match, GT stands at 151/1 after 14 overs, with Sudharsan on 56 off 39 balls and Jos Buttler having scored 19 off 8 balls.
A victory over CSK would secure a top-two finish for the Shubman Gill-led team, depending on their net run rate (NRR). With eight wins in 13 matches, they have already booked a spot in the IPL 2026 playoffs alongside Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s CSK team has six wins in 13 matches. However, a win alone won’t suffice for them to reach the knockouts; they need favorable outcomes in other matches. Five teams are competing for the fourth playoff spot.
In their previous encounter in 2026, GT defeated the Super Kings by eight wickets in Chennai.
