This season, Al-Nassr was embroiled in a fierce title race against their rivals, Al-Hilal. On May 12, the two teams ended their match in a 1-1 draw. Mohamed Simakan initially put Al-Nassr ahead in the 37th minute, but a dramatic own goal by goalkeeper Bento in the 98th minute resulted in a draw.
Ronaldo was visibly disappointed with the draw, as a victory would have clinched the league title for Al-Nassr. Consequently, Jorge Jesus’ team required a win against Damac in their final game of the season.
Al-Nassr rose to the challenge, defeating Damac 4-1 to secure the league title. Sadio Mane and Kingsley Coman scored to give Al-Nassr a 2-0 lead before Morlaye Sylla converted a penalty for Damac. Ronaldo then scored twice, including a free-kick, to seal the victory.
Following this triumph in the Saudi Pro League, the 41-year-old Ronaldo has now won league titles in four different countries.
Jorge Jesus Confirms Departure After Leading Al-Nassr to Title
After guiding Al-Nassr to their first league title in seven years, head coach Jorge Jesus announced his departure from the club. The 71-year-old coach, who had previously won the Saudi Pro League with Al-Hilal in 2024, joined Al-Nassr the previous summer.
In an interview with Canal GOAT (referenced by World Soccer Talk), Jesus stated after the victory over Damac:
“For me, it’s over. It’s the last game I worked for Al-Nassr. I’m leaving, that’s the point. It’s over.”
The Portuguese coach also shared that he has not yet decided on his next career move. He confirmed plans to vacation in Brazil.
He added:
“I’m going to Portugal, I’m going to spend two or four days on vacation in Portugal. Then I’m thinking of going to Brazil, I’m thinking of going to Rio. Not to train. I’m only going to Brazil for vacation.”
Jesus has enjoyed a remarkable coaching career since 1990, having managed 17 clubs over his 36-year tenure.
