Wardlow has been absent from All Elite Wrestling for a significant duration due to a torn pectoral muscle he sustained after making a comeback at Forbidden Door last year. Recently, a report has shed light on the former TNT Champion’s current status as AEW prepares for the Double or Nothing pay-per-view.
The 38-year-old has maintained an active presence on social media, frequently sharing gym photos and workout videos with his fans, signaling progress in his recovery. Last month, Wardlow expressed his longing to return to the ring, stating that he was nearing a comeback. However, a recent report delivers a disappointing update on his situation.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, AEW currently has no creative plans for Wardlow. Despite being backstage at the Revolution pay-per-view in March, there have been no creative discussions about him within All Elite Wrestling.
Consequently, it appears that Wardlow’s return to All Elite Wrestling might still be some time away. He has not participated in a singles match in professional wrestling for over two years. His reappearance at Forbidden Door last year brought optimism about his future, but it remains to be seen how his career will evolve.
Wardlow on Teaming Up with Eric Boogs
Last month, Wardlow took part in the new American Gladiators show, where he delivered a noteworthy performance that garnered attention. Recently, the AEW star shared his experience of being teamed up with fellow pro-wrestler and former WWE star Eric Boogs, previously known as Rick Boogs.
Speaking on BCP+, Wardlow revealed that initially, he was confident that no one on the show could match his physical prowess. However, upon seeing Eric Boogs, he recognized a genuine competitor. The 38-year-old noted that it was the first time someone matched his strength.
“There’s not one guy here that I’m worried about, and then the elevator door opens and out walks Eric Boogs. Not only is it him but, lo and behold, he is decked out head to toe in 90s American flag, singlet, just the whole nine, and I’m like, well, as confident as I am, if it’s me versus this guy, I’m gonna have a run for my money here. So, of course we ended up getting paired up together for this combine,” said the AEW star. [H/T: Fightful]
