Senate Democrats have achieved significant victories with the Republican reconciliation bill aimed at funding ICE and Border Patrol. The Republicans are now in a position where they must independently fund ICE and Border Patrol after Trump declined to negotiate reforms for these agencies.

In another move, the president attempted to leverage this reconciliation bill to secure additional benefits for himself. Trump sought $1 billion for a White House ballroom and $1.8 billion in taxpayer funds to compensate his criminal allies involved in efforts to overthrow the government.
Faced with potential defeat due to enough Republican opposition aligning with Democrats, Republicans decided to eliminate the proposed funds for the ballroom and the so-called weaponization fund from the bill.
Senate Judiciary Democrats announced on X:
BREAKING: Funding for Trump’s ballroom and the weaponized Trump-Blanche Justice Department has been officially removed from the reconciliation bill, marking a win for Democrats.
Democrats have achieved a substantial victory in the Republicans’ partisan funding bill. NO ballroom funding. NO weaponized Trump-Blanche Justice Department funding.
The Senate plans to terminate the weaponization fund, refusing to accept assurances from Trump and Blanche. They intend to formalize the prohibition on such a fund, ensuring that no money will be allocated for it.
Trump faced another setback as he also lost in the House regarding his conflict in Iran.
