Humza Raja (Chicago Police Department)

Concealed Carry Holder and TSA Agent Charged with Murder

A shocking incident unfolded near Chinatown in Chicago this summer, leading to the tragic shooting of an unarmed man by a concealed carry holder who also worked as a TSA agent at O’Hare.

According to prosecutors, the victim, 28-year-old Jason Fox, was involved in a dispute at an after-hours nightclub where he grabbed a woman’s hands, resulting in a scuffle that led to his removal from the club.

The woman contacted her friend of over 15 years, Humza Raja, a 22-year-old TSA agent, to pick her up from the club. Surveillance footage captured Raja arriving at the scene shortly after 7 a.m.

Upon learning about the incident with the woman, Raja identified Fox walking nearby and confronted him from inside his car. A witness stated that Raja and Fox engaged in a heated argument, during which Raja asked Fox if he intended to pursue the woman. After confirming his identity as the woman’s aggressor, Fox admitted his intentions.

Witnesses reported seeing Raja brandishing a gun from inside his Porsche and firing multiple shots at Fox, who attempted to flee before succumbing to his injuries. The victim was shot twice in the chest and once in the thigh, with no evidence of him possessing any weapons or posing a physical threat to Raja.

Following the shooting, Raja contacted his supervisor at O’Hare to confess to the incident, expressing that he had shot someone who had confronted him. Subsequently, he failed to report for work, prompting further investigation into the matter.

Despite initially being released after surrendering to authorities, Raja was arrested on Thursday to face charges of first-degree murder and murder. Investigators retrieved Raja’s phone, revealing his immediate search for legal representation following the shooting.

During a court hearing, Judge David Kelly deemed the shooting as “completely unjustified” based on the prosecution’s findings and ordered Raja to be detained pending trial.
