Over 70 dancers ranging in age will showcase their talents in Ashburton this weekend.
The Ashburton Highland and National Dancing competition, an annual event with a legacy spanning nearly 90 years, is set to take place.
This one-day competition will commence at 9am on Saturday at the Ashburton Event Centre.
The event will feature a variety of performances, including Highland Flings, sword dances, the Sean Truibhas, Highland Reel, Reel of Tulloch, Irish Jig, Irish and Sailors Hornpipe, and Irish Reel.
Attendance is free and open to everyone.
Many participants are using this event as a stepping stone to prepare for the New Zealand Championships scheduled in Blenheim from July 9 to 13.
