This year, several of Reem Acra’s clients made their way to Venice. Inspired by the city’s dramatic and lavish ambiance while dressing her clients for their journey, Acra chose it as the setting for her resort 2027 collection.
Renowned for her extravagant gowns adorned with beading and embroidery, the designer elevated her creations by incorporating ostrich feathers into necklines and trims, and in some instances, allowing them to dominate entire skirts. This approach mirrored her previous use of faux fur in the fall 2026 collection. According to Acra, these additional details are what clients desire now; they “are happy to see something more fun, [something] that is unusual.” This appetite for novelty was further satisfied through vibrant colors, with the collection showcasing rich shades of orange, brick, turquoise, blue, and green. However, the final ensemble, a hand-beaded and appliquĂ©d gown featuring a burst of tulle at the hem, opted for a glacial blue hue instead.
Acra also introduced more adaptable skirt-and-top combinations and played with silhouettes. Some of her classic caftans, considered the brand’s “bread and butter,” were tailored to highlight more shape as her clients’ figures, in general, have become leaner. One standout piece for Acra is an orange dress with a cape detail at the back, achieved through the artful draping of a single piece of fabric.
