Jennifer Love Hewitt Reveals Emotional Inspiration Behind New Christmas Film
After experiencing the loss of her mother, Patricia, Jennifer Love Hewitt found solace in creating her new Christmas film, The Holiday Junkie, which draws inspiration from her own personal journey of celebrating the holidays without her beloved mother by her side.
Despite mourning her mother in private, Hewitt found a way to honor her mother’s memory on set. She shared, “We had a board where everybody would bring pictures of their loved ones who had passed, and every day, we dedicated the movie to all of them.”
She explained, “I really didn’t want it to feel like it was only my experience. I wanted it to be everyone’s. So it was really nice because the crew and everybody at the end were like, ‘I felt like I really honored my dad,’ or ‘I felt like I really honored my grandma,’ or ‘I felt like they were here with us.’ It felt like it was a journey for everyone, and we all, I think, felt like we let that go when it was done, and it was beautiful that way.”
Through the process of creating The Holiday Junkie, Hewitt was able to find healing and closure in honoring her mother’s memory, while also allowing others to pay tribute to their own loved ones who have passed. The film serves as a heartfelt reminder of the importance of cherishing and remembering those who are no longer with us during the holiday season.
