Jennifer Siebel Newsom has reacted strongly against a Department of Justice investigation targeting her and her husband, Governor Gavin Newsom.

As California’s First Partner, she described the probe as an assault on her family and criticized President Trump for having “no boundaries” in his actions against them.

She remarked, “There are clearly no boundaries to what Donald Trump will do to get his way or to challenge those who get in his way.”

“This is not presidential behavior, and the Governor and I will continue to speak truth to power because the American people deserve so much more.”

Her comments followed accusations from Newsom that Trump had directed the DOJ to investigate him, his wife, and other family members as a form of political vendetta, with Newsom contemplating a presidential run in 2028.

Insiders close to Newsom indicated the investigation is centered on nonprofit initiatives linked to his wife, including one that secured millions from special interests engaged with the state.

Another aspect of the inquiry is said to involve a corruption case related to Newsom’s former chief of staff, Dana Williamson, who admitted guilt last month for illegally aiding a former client facing a state lawsuit, among other infractions.

“In recent days, federal agents have knocked on the doors of family, friends, and former employees, not because they found a crime, because they’re simply trying to find one,” Newsom stated in a video posted to X.

“They’re demanding records, they’re abusing the grand jury process, digging through years and years of random documents.

“Donald Trump isn’t just coming after me because of my mean tweets, he’s coming after me because I’m considering running for president, because he hates that I’ve consistently called him out over and over again for his lies and deceit.”

Newsom has been a vocal critic of the president since Trump’s reelection in 2024, often ridiculing the president’s tone and voice on social media.

The governor asserted that Trump was using his personal lawyer, Todd Blanche, who now leads the Justice Department after Pam Bondi’s dismissal, to pursue political adversaries.

Part of the investigation reportedly involves Siebel Newsom’s nonprofit activities.

The Post previously disclosed that Newsom had directed more than $4.4 million from special interests and affluent individuals to the California Partners Project, one of her key initiatives.

The organization collaborated with two other groups associated with Siebel Newsom, both of which pay her a salary.

Siebel Newsom established the Representation Project, a nonprofit for gender equity, and owns Girls Club Entertainment, a film production organization listed as a contractor on the nonprofit’s tax returns.

The Representation Project compensated Girls Club Entertainment $161,250 for film production services in 2024, according to the latest IRS documents.

Matt Klink, a political strategist based in Los Angeles and owner of Klink Campaigns, remarked that Newsom’s public stance on the investigation enhances his reputation within the Democratic Party.

“Typically, the way the federal government works is they announce they’re investigating you and if the investigation closes, no one says anything,” Klink noted.

“Gavin Newsom is trying to do the opposite — he’s saying he is being investigated and the federal government is being quiet. It keeps him at the center of, ‘I’m fighting Trump and Trump is out to get me.’”
