Throughout most of 2026, MJF has dominated All Elite Wrestling with back-to-back reigns as AEW World Champion. He is now gearing up for a significant 12-Man Tag Team match, headlining the upcoming Forbidden Door pay-per-view. Leading his team, MJF faces off against Mark Briscoeās group, with a future AEW title match on the line. Despite a recent alliance, former TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher has hinted at a potential match against MJF, known as the Salt of the Earth.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman started the year with major title defenses against notable opponents like Bandido, Brody King, Hangman Adam Page, and Kenny Omega. He briefly lost the title to Darby Allin in a squash match at Dynamite after Dynasty but reclaimed it from Darby at Double or Nothing in a hard-fought battle last month. Reports suggest MJF may be injured, which could explain his participation in a Tag Team match at one of AEW’s major annual events.
The 12-Man Steel Cage Tag Team main event became official after MJF repeatedly denied Mark Briscoe a shot at the AEW World title. Tony Khan announced that MJF and Briscoe will lead teams of five in a Steel Cage match. If Briscoeās team triumphs, he earns a future title shot against MJF. Briscoe quickly assembled his team, including allies from Conglomeration, Darby Allin, and Konosuke Takeshita.
Meanwhile, MJF recruited teammates from the Don Callis Family, including Kyle Fletcher. Despite being on the same team, Fletcher posted a caption-less picture with MJF, hinting at a future confrontation.
Fans are intrigued by Fletcherās mindset as the Steel Cage main event at Forbidden Door approaches this Sunday.
MJF recently opened up about his health condition ahead of AEW Forbidden Door
MJF, the Salt of the Earth, recently discussed his health during an interview with Brian R. Solomon on the Shut Up and Wrestle Podcast. He admitted to being in considerable pain but emphasized his determination to continue because the company’s main event scene depends on him.
“My knee is f*cked. Itās swollen to sh*t. Iām in a sh*t ton of f*cking pain. But itās on me because Iām the f*cking top guy and people are leaning on me to make sure that weāre doing well. So Iāve got to f*cking lace my f*cking boots up and get in that g*ddamn ring. And obviously, a doctor is never going to let me go in there unless structurally Iām okay. So donāt think Iām burying the AEW medical team. Iām in a lot of pain, thereās swelling, but structurally, Iām good,” he said.
Fans worldwide are wishing for MJF’s speedy recovery so he can return to top form in the ring.
