Authorities arrested two individuals on Sunday at a Costco store, accused of trying to use fraudulent credit cards to obtain merchandise.

The South Windsor Police Department (SWPD) reported the incident took place around 3 p.m. in South Windsor, Connecticut.

Identified as suspected serial shoplifters, the two were named by police as 35-year-old Brittany A. Howard from the Bronx, New York, and 34-year-old Kasheem M. Williams from Brooklyn.

“Officers were dispatched to Costco (1220 Tamarack Ave) following reports of two individuals actively stealing from the store and attempting to pay at the self-checkout with fake credit cards,” SWPD stated.

Authorities noted that store employees had been alerted about these suspects, as they had allegedly attempted a similar crime at another Costco location in Enfield, approximately 30 minutes north.

Upon investigation, officers discovered 28 stolen financial documents, each under different names, in the suspects’ vehicle, along with items believed to have been stolen from the Enfield Costco, police reported.

Following their arrest, it was revealed that both suspects had outstanding warrants from other states.

Williams had an extraditable warrant from Suffolk County, New York, facing multiple charges including burglary, strangulation, and assault.

Howard was found to have an extraditable warrant from Hudson County, New Jersey, for credit card theft charges.

The suspects now face additional charges, including 28 counts of payment card theft, larceny, identity theft, and conspiracy.

Police stated that both individuals were held on $250,000 surety bonds and were due to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Monday morning.
