Country singer Jillian Cardarelli has been openly sharing her battle with cancer after being diagnosed with stage II invasive ductal carcinoma at the age of 33.
“I don’t even know what day it is anymore,” Cardarelli shared with People in June 2026, a few weeks following her diagnosis. “One moment you’re focused on filming schedules, scripts, music, and everything. The next is doctors, scans, pathology reports, and words I’d never even … I feel like I’m learning a new language.”
Cardarelli noted that she discovered a lump in her breast, and a feeling in her gut prompted her to consult a doctor. It was then that a malignant tumor was detected “in an area of very dense tissue.”
“I’ve had areas in my breasts diagnosed with dense fibrous tissue since I was 25 years old and have been getting them checked with ultrasounds a couple of times, but nothing was ever found,” she explained. “But then, I felt something a little different to me. I knew my body. I was a little more tired.”
Cardarelli described her diagnosis as “shocking,” but she was grateful for her intuition that led her to seek medical attention, allowing for early detection.
“I knew something in my body was different,” she expressed, acknowledging the “fear and sadness” she feels during treatment.
Her medical team remains hopeful. “It’s going to be a journey,” she told People. “We’re pretty sure surgery is first and then we have to decide a treatment plan after that.”
