Contempt of Court Motion Filed Against Rudy Giuliani for Defamation

Former Donald Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani is facing legal trouble for allegedly defaming two Georgia election workers he owes $148 million, as per their legal team’s recent letter to a federal judge.

The attorneys representing the election workers have requested that Giuliani be held in contempt of court for continuously making defamatory statements despite agreeing earlier this year to refrain from doing so.

Giuliani’s actions are seen as a violation of the court order, and if found in contempt, he could face additional fines or even jail time.

Violation of Consent Injunction

According to the letter filed by the legal team, Giuliani has been brazenly disregarding the agreement he made to stop spreading false claims about the election workers’ involvement in fraud during the 2020 presidential election.

The motion requests the judge to hold Giuliani in civil contempt and to determine appropriate sanctions to ensure compliance with the court order.

Repeated Defamatory Statements

Despite the consent injunction Giuliani agreed to in May, he resumed making defamatory comments within six months. The letter highlights instances from Giuliani’s web show where he repeated false claims about the election workers.

Giuliani’s statements on his livestreams included allegations of ballot tampering and machine manipulation, which the legal team deems as clear violations of the injunction.

Defamation Judgment and Assets

Giuliani was previously ordered to surrender assets, including his Manhattan apartment, memorabilia, jewelry, watches, and a vintage car, to satisfy the $148 million defamation judgment against him.

At a recent press conference, Giuliani’s new attorney criticized the judgment as excessive and unconstitutional, while others defended Giuliani’s actions.

The legal battle continues as Giuliani faces potential consequences for his repeated defamation of the Georgia election workers.
