Spanish soccer star Lamine Yamal’s $12 million-plus property in Barcelona was the target of an attempted burglary shortly after Spain’s recent World Cup semifinal victory over France, according to The Sun.
The outlet reported that authorities confirmed the incident occurred shortly after the 19-year-old athlete played a crucial role in helping Spain secure a place in the World Cup final.
Local police stated that two individuals wearing ski masks attempted to scale the wall of Yamal’s residence but were deterred by private security guards, causing them to flee.

Despite being thousands of miles away in Dallas for a major match, Yamal’s home, once owned by Barcelona legend Gerard Piqué, became the focus of a burglary attempt. Two individuals were spotted on CCTV trying to climb the perimeter wall, but the swift action of the security guards thwarted their efforts, as reported by Euro News.
The attempted break-in occurred early Wednesday morning in Barcelona, shortly after Spain’s triumph over France.
The Sun reported that police have launched an investigation into the attempted robbery, with the Barcelona Criminal Investigation Division examining CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
Yamal was instrumental in Spain’s victory, drawing a penalty against French defender Lucas Digne in the first half, which led to Mikel Oyarzabal scoring the decisive penalty kick, putting Spain in a 1-0 lead.
This victory further extended Spain’s unbeaten record in international matches with Yamal in the lineup and marked his sixth consecutive win against Kylian Mbappé in head-to-head international encounters.

Spain is now set to face Lionel Messi and Argentina at MetLife Stadium for the World Cup title on Sunday.
With the La Liga Player of the Year title under his belt, Yamal is on the cusp of adding a World Cup final win to his growing collection of accolades.
