Mikie Sherrill, the Democratic Governor of New Jersey, revealed today that a “software glitch” led to the registration of about 6,600 noncitizens as voters in the state from 2023 to 2024. Among these, several hundred proceeded to vote.
These issues stem from Democratic policies that neglect essential citizenship verification—highlighting the urgent need for Congress to enact the SAVE America Act. This proposed law mandates that states employ the Department of Homeland Security’s SAVE system to verify citizenship before allowing individuals to register for federal elections—a measure New Jersey has not adopted.
The act also introduces a requirement for voter identification in federal elections, a measure that has widespread support among Americans, along with other popular reforms.
Every unauthorized vote diminishes the influence of legitimate voters and compromises the integrity of elections. These occurrences are not mere accidents; they are a foreseeable outcome of Democratic policies that avoid citizenship verification.
