The Division 2 Dust Storm event commenced on July 21, 2026, unveiling a new dynamic weather system for the New York map. This entire DLC region is accessible for free during the event and introduces new Dust Devil kill squads along with two named enemies. These adversaries appear randomly across the map and, upon defeat, drop Storm Keys for Strategic Homeland Division (SHD) Agents. These keys can then be exchanged for various rewards at both global and personal levels.

Personal Milestone rewards in The Division 2 Dust Storm event
The Dust Storm event in The Division 2 features a dynamic weather system that alternates between calm and raging dust storm conditions at regular intervals. During these periods, Dust Devils and their kill squads emerge to challenge SHD Agents and other hostiles in the area. These enemies come with status and damage modifiers and, most importantly, drop storm keys upon defeat.

Storm keys can be exchanged to unlock Apparel Cache, Gear Cache, or Community Cache. The first two types of caches provide Agent cosmetics and gear items, while the third offers a community system where players can donate Storm keys to reach a threshold that unlocks specific rewards. A personal reward system also offers a variety of free items:
- 10 Keys – Scorpion Arm Patch
- 20 Keys – St Elmo’s Engine Exotic Weapon
- 40 Keys – Howl Arm Patch
- 60 Keys – Lexington Named Weapon
- 80 Keys – Cactus Arm Patch
- 100 Keys – Prototype Event Weapon
- 125 Keys – Rattler Arm Patch
- 150 Keys – Scarab Lexington Skin
- 175 Keys – Howdy Arm Patch
- 200 Keys – St Elmo’s Engine Red Alert Weapon Skin

In response to strong community feedback about the key drops in the previous Kitsune event, the Division team has adjusted the key drop rate and its scaling with difficulty.
Keys are now guaranteed to drop at an increased rate based on difficulty:
- Normal: 14 Kills
- Hard: 14 Kills
- Challenging: 12 Kills
- Heroic: 10 Kills
Moreover, the key drop requirements for the first 150 kills have been halved.
