The One UI Watch 9, powered by Wear OS 7, introduces a subtle yet significant software update that Samsung didn’t highlight prominently.
This update isn’t about new watch faces or AI-driven health features but rather an enhancement in software support. Both the Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 now come with five years of OS support.

According to the official tech specs, support will continue until 31 July 2031.
This extension offers an additional year of support compared to previous models like the Galaxy Watch 8, ensuring the Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 will receive software updates until 2031, potentially up to Wear OS 12.
While the devices’ performance with new software five years from now is uncertain, Samsung demonstrates confidence with the Snapdragon Wear Elite processor and its Wear OS customization.
It is curious that Samsung didn’t emphasize this advancement, possibly due to a packed Unpacked event. Nonetheless, this feature sets a new standard in the industry and is increasingly important for consumers, especially as device prices rise in 2026, including these models.
