Here’s What Morgan Stanley Says About Buying the AI Infrastructure Dip
SHARE

The decline in artificial intelligence (AI)-related stocks continues as companies that provide inputs into AI data centers see their stock prices plummet. This includes companies like Micron Technology, Intel, Global X Copper Miners ETF, iShares Silver Trust, and Caterpillar. Investors have been selling off these stocks in recent months, questioning the massive AI spending by companies like Meta Platforms and Alphabet and the potential returns.

In July, shares of companies involved in AI infrastructure dropped by an average of nearly 7%. Despite this pullback, Morgan Stanley is advising investors to buy the dip. In a note released on July 28, analysts at the investment bank expressed confidence in the future of AI infrastructure, describing it as an “intelligence superhighway” that will provide significant benefits to economies worldwide. They acknowledge potential challenges such as companies limiting AI use due to cost concerns and competition from lower-priced Chinese AI models but remain optimistic about the long-term growth prospects.

The analysts highlighted the rapid improvement in AI capabilities and the positive impact of AI adoption on capital expenditures. They believe that the current downturn in AI-related stocks presents a unique buying opportunity for investors. In essence, they are recommending investors to take advantage of the dip in prices.

As for investing in Morgan Stanley itself, the Motley Fool Stock Advisor analyst team has identified the 10 best stocks for investors to buy now, and Morgan Stanley did not make the cut. The recommended stocks are chosen for their long-term growth potential and the possibility of generating significant returns in the future. Past recommendations from the Stock Advisor team, such as Netflix in 2004 and Nvidia in 2005, have delivered impressive returns, outperforming the S&P 500 by a wide margin.

In conclusion, while the AI-related stocks may be experiencing a downturn, there is optimism about the future of AI infrastructure. Investors are encouraged to consider buying the dip in these stocks while also exploring other investment opportunities recommended by the Stock Advisor team for long-term growth and potential returns.
