The Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations has received a copy of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s iPhone from the COVID era as part of its ongoing probe into the government’s pandemic response and Fauci’s previous statements to Congress.
Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) confirmed a Wall Street Journal report indicating that the Department of Health and Human Services handed over the phone to the committee.
“The Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations has obtained a copy of Dr. Fauci’s phone from HHS,” Johnson, who heads the subcommittee, announced on X.
“Hopefully, this device will address many of the questions he refused to answer at last week’s hearing.”

Following a contentious Senate hearing last week, where Fauci declined to answer questions, invoking his Fifth Amendment right over 100 times as Senate Republicans questioned him about the COVID pandemic and his past statements.
Despite having received a sweeping preemptive pardon from Biden, Fauci did not respond to any inquiries regarding COVID and vaccine misinformation. He even avoided answering simple questions such as the day of the week, the color of his tie, and the carpet when Senator Josh Hawley questioned him.

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), who leads the Senate Homeland Security Committee, announced the committee’s plan to vote on holding Fauci in contempt for his refusal to answer questions, suggesting his use of the Fifth Amendment was inappropriate.
The committee is scheduled to vote on the resolution tomorrow.
Paul, who also acquired a copy of Fauci’s phone, released the text of his resolution to hold Fauci in contempt, arguing that Fauci’s Fifth Amendment claim was “unsupported as applied to questions pertaining to the period of the pardon” and that Fauci “waived his right to claim the privilege as a result of his opening testimony on subject matter pertinent to the questions under inquiry.”

Paul discussed the upcoming vote on Newsmax, expressing his belief that it will pass out of the committee. “There is some legal discussion and case work and precedent on this, and so we will put this forward, we will make our arguments,” he stated.
“If it passes out of committee tomorrow, which I hope it will, I will immediately send it to the Department of Justice and ask them to continue proceedings to come down with an indictment.”
