Donald Trump has a pattern of targeting female reporters with his criticisms. While clips of him chastising male reporters are rare, he often appears to be particularly offended when women pose challenging questions.
During a meeting with a 16-year-old lifeguard who had saved a boy from drowning in California, Trump addressed questions from the reporters present.

At the same time, Trump’s administration decided to cancel military exercises with South Korea, sparking concerns in Asia regarding the United States’ reliability as a security partner.
This decision also brought into question the influence of Trump’s relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
Trump commented, “But I get along with him very well. No, what I’m doing is making things safer.”
Reporter Holmes then asked, “Did he (Kim Jong-un) ask you, Mr. President, to scale back on those?”
Trump responded with an attack on Holmes, saying, “Quiet, quiet, quiet. You’re very disrespectful, in front of this young man. Okay? Don’t you find her disrespectful? He understands. Quiet. Who are you with? I’m with CNN. Fake news. I just wanted to follow up—You’re fake news… on the South Korea question. You’re a loud, you’re a loud, boisterous person. You’re fake news.”

The issue extends beyond Trump’s difficulty with a challenging question; it also involves how the other reporters in the room reacted to one of their colleagues being criticized.
