King Charles’ preference for familiar environments aligns with his well-known adherence to routine, a characteristic he shares with his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
In an interview in October 2023, Charles’ stepson, Tom Parker Bowles, shed light on the King’s daily habits, particularly highlighting the significance of afternoon tea.
Parker Bowles shared with People magazine that tea at exactly 5pm is of “primary importance.”
He explained, “It’s not just a cup of tea – it’s a complete meal. There are sandwiches, two types of cake, scones, biscuits, shrimp, and eggs.”
While afternoon tea is a steadfast part of Charles’ schedule, lunch is reportedly not as prioritized.
Gordon Rayner, a royal correspondent, noted that the King views taking a lunch break as a “luxury” that disrupts his workday.
Charles’ travel arrangements imply that substantial efforts are made to maintain his accustomed environment and routines, even when he is away from home.
Camilla is also known to travel with her preferred bedroom items, including an orthopedic mattress.
