The Y2K era persists according to Rebecca Hessel Cohen’s vision. For her spring 2027 fashion show held at the new Dante location on Elizabeth Street in Nolita, this lifelong New Yorker celebrated her formative years in the early 2000s.
Hessel Cohen, who admired magazine editors, publicists, and social figures during her youth, reminisces about their glamorous and slightly edgy lifestyles, untouched by social media. âWe worked all day. We went out, we slept a few hours, and did it all over again, and that was it,â she recalled backstage. The collection seeks to embody the era’s spirit rather than just its aesthetics.
The designer introduced pieces reminiscent of a bygone era, likely appealing to former Delia*s catalog fans, with items like sparkly scarf belts, floral slip dresses, and low-waisted bottoms. âI always go back to that time because it feels so personal, and then weâll try to give it the current edge,â Hessel Cohen explained. Inside Dante, the atmosphere echoed this ambition. Despite the nostalgic allure of “Dreams” by both the Cranberries and Fleetwood Mac, the presence of Love Island and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast members and their camera crews brought a modern reality check.
This season, Hessel Cohen maintained her signature maximalist approach but also introduced a tougher edge with raw-hemmed denim jackets and flower-embroidered cargo pants. The show concluded with a hint of LoveShackFancy’s future direction as a sequined eyelet wedding dress graced the runway, signaling wedding bells for the LoveShackFancy girl!
