Following the tragic shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan, his wife Paulette Thompson disclosed to NBC News that he had been receiving threats prior to his untimely death. She mentioned that Brian had mentioned being threatened by certain individuals, although she was not aware of the specific details surrounding the threats.
Paulette believed that the threats may have been related to issues concerning insurance coverage, possibly alluding to UnitedHealthcare’s practices of denying certain coverage. She expressed difficulty in providing a comprehensive response at the moment, as she was still processing the shocking news and focusing on comforting their children.
Despite the threats, Brian did not change his travel routine, according to his wife. The New York City Police described the shooting as a deliberate and targeted attack outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown, ruling out the possibility of random violence.
As of the latest update at 2 p.m. local time, the gunman responsible for the attack had not been apprehended, with authorities actively searching for the suspect, who was last seen riding a bike through Central Park.
Brian Thompson had a long tenure at UnitedHealthcare, serving as CEO for over three years and joining the company back in 2004. He resided in Minnesota at the time of his passing.
