Pete Davidson recently shared a surprising revelation in a video roundup for New York Magazine, where he disclosed how much he was paid as a cast member on “Saturday Night Live.” In the video, which was posted on social media, Davidson, along with other current and former “SNL” stars, discussed the “biggest indulgence” they splurged on after receiving their first paycheck from the long-running NBC sketch comedy series.
During the video, Davidson humorously mentioned that the cast members are paid around three thousand dollars per episode. He jokingly added that he believed he could only afford to buy dinner with his paycheck. Similarly, Jason Sudeikis, who was a writer and cast member on “SNL” from 2003 to 2013, shared that his first major purchase after joining the show was covering his New York rent.
The video also featured insights from other notable “SNL” alumni and current stars, including James Austin Johnson, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sarah Silverman, Sarah Sherman, Cheri Oteri, Seth Meyers, Bowen Yang, and Rachel Dratch. Louis-Dreyfus humorously revealed that she splurged on a pair of $75 shoes, while Yang admitted to buying a pair of Gucci shoes that he no longer felt comfortable wearing.
Some cast members used their first “SNL” paycheck to purchase furniture, with Johnson, Meyers, and Oteri mentioning buying a couch. Oteri humorously recounted getting her couch reupholstered multiple times despite a designer suggesting it be replaced.
“Saturday Night Live” is gearing up to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a live primetime special on February 16th. The iconic series airs on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET and is also available for streaming on Peacock.
