AJ Dybantsa, the No. 1 prospect in the 2025 class, is on a mission to carry on the legacy of his late mentor, Terrence Clarke. Clarke, a talented high school basketball prospect from Boston, tragically lost his life in a car accident in Los Angeles on April 22, 2021. Dybantsa, who looked up to Clarke and was inspired by his success, is determined to follow in his footsteps and make a name for himself in the basketball world.

In an interview on The Field Of 68: After Dark’s YouTube channel, Dybantsa shared how Clarke’s success motivated him to take basketball seriously. “I’m kinda where he was, like, at the same stage, so he was, like, young, regarded as a top 10 player in his respective class,” Dybantsa said. “So, like seeing him being from Boston and doing what he was doing is, like, maybe I could do the same thing.”

Dybantsa also expressed his determination to carry on Clarke’s legacy and ensure that it continues to inspire others. Despite the heartbreaking loss of Clarke, Dybantsa is focused on fulfilling his potential and reaching the heights of success in basketball.

Terrence Clarke, a top 10 prospect and a consensus five-star recruit, had a promising career ahead of him before his untimely death. He excelled in high school, leading his team to the 2019 National Prep Championships with impressive stats. Clarke’s commitment to Kentucky and his decision to declare for the 2021 NBA draft showcased his talent and potential.

While Clarke’s potential was left unrealized, AJ Dybantsa is determined to make his mark in the basketball world. The young small forward, with an NIL valuation of $2.6 million, is already making waves in high school basketball. With impressive stats at St. Sebastian’s School and Utah Prep, Dybantsa is proving that he has what it takes to succeed at the highest level.
