Jose de la Torre, known for his role as Iván in the popular Spanish-language Netflix series “Toy Boy,” has passed away at the age of 37. His death was first reported by the Spanish publication Montilla Digital, revealing that he had been battling a serious illness before his passing on December 5th. A funeral service was held in Spain to honor his memory.
In June, de la Torre had announced his diagnosis of a severe illness, prompting him to take a break from acting to focus on his treatment. He had been a part of the Netflix series “Toy Boy” since its premiere in 2019, which followed the story of Hugo Beltrán, a stripper seeking to prove his innocence after being wrongfully imprisoned for a crime he did not commit.
Alongside his role in “Toy Boy,” de la Torre also appeared in the long-running soap opera “Amar es para siempre,” which depicted the social and economic revival of the Spanish working class in the 1960s through the lens of a fictional tavern. He had brief appearances in other shows like “Vis a Vis: El Oasis” and “Serve and Protect.”
De la Torre leaves behind his father Antonio de la Torre Hidalgo, mother Maria Jose Delgado Espejo, and sister Marina. His talent and presence in the entertainment industry will be dearly missed by fans and colleagues alike. May he rest in peace.
