The University of Colorado recently announced Kenneth T. Christensen as the next chancellor of its Denver campus after a thorough selection process.

Christensen expressed his excitement about joining the University of Colorado, stating, “This institution’s mission of inclusive education and innovation resonates with my own values and priorities as an academic leader. I look forward to supporting CU Denver in its efforts to enhance student success, scholarly impact, and economic development.”

Prior to his appointment at CU Denver, Christensen served as provost at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he spearheaded various academic initiatives focused on workforce readiness and curriculum modernization.

Christensen’s Hispanic heritage played a significant role in his efforts to transform Illinois Tech into a Hispanic-serving Institution, highlighting his commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education.

With a background in engineering and experience at prestigious institutions like Notre Dame and the University of Illinois, Christensen is well-equipped to lead CU Denver into a new era of growth and innovation.

As he prepares to assume his new role in February, Christensen’s appointment has garnered strong support from the CU Denver community and university officials, who praise his dedication to student success and transformative higher education.

CU President Todd Saliman commended Christensen’s deep understanding of CU Denver’s unique opportunities, emphasizing his potential to lead the institution forward and make a lasting impact on the university and its stakeholders.
