Prosecutors have revealed that Destiny Young, a woman on felony pretrial release, was part of a five-person mob that carried out two separate attacks and robberies on the Red Line in October.

Surveillance images of the robbery suspects were released by Chicago police detectives on October 20, seeking public assistance in identifying the culprits. Destiny Young, 21, was recognized by anonymous citizens and a Cook County sheriff as one of the individuals involved, according to court documents.

On October 9, around 11:22 p.m., Young and at least four male accomplices allegedly robbed a 29-year-old man on a Red Line train near 87th Street. Young reportedly walked off the train with the man’s electric scooter, while another individual took the victim’s belongings.

Thirty minutes later, Young and her accomplices confronted an 18-year-old man on a Red Line train near 47th Street. They attempted to take the man’s bike and bag, but he fought back and retained possession of the bike. Young is accused of spraying the victim in the face with pepper spray as he exited the train.

Youth faces charges of robbery and aggravated battery of transit passengers. Judge Susana Ortiz granted the state’s detention request, citing Young’s existing pretrial release for a previous case involving aggravated battery of a peace officer.
