Yvette Manessis Corporon, the author of “Daughter of Ruins,” has been eagerly anticipating the possibility of her Greek-infused novels making their way to television screens ever since her debut novel, “When The Cypress Whispers,” was published in 2014. Now, after a decade of dreaming and writing, Corporon is more hopeful than ever for her latest book to be adapted into a TV series. She envisions “Daughter of Ruins” as a visually stunning and emotionally rich show that captures the essence of Greek history, culture, and mythology.

“Daughter of Ruins,” released on October 8th, is set in the aftermath of World War II and follows the intertwined stories of three women: Elena, a sex worker; Maria, a mail-order bride; and Demitra, a young artist. As they navigate their way through the challenges of their time, they strive to shape their own destinies and become the women they are destined to be.

In a recent interview with Variety, Corporon expressed her excitement at the possibility of her book being adapted for television. She believes that the story’s exotic locations, rich symbolism, complex characters, and universal themes make it ideal for a multi-part series. Oprah Daily’s review of “Daughter of Ruins” further solidified the book’s potential for adaptation, with writer Adam Glassman praising its suitability for the screen.

While Corporon is thrilled at the prospect of her book coming to life on television, she is also considering her next literary venture. As a multi-time Emmy winner for her work on “Extra,” she is exploring new ideas within the realm of modern Greek history and mythology. While she is not currently planning to continue the story of Demitra, Elena, and Maria beyond “Daughter of Ruins,” she remains open to the possibility if there is a demand from readers or publishers.

As she looks towards the future, Corporon is excited to delve into new themes of art, cultural identity, and of course, food in her upcoming projects. While she is focused on her next idea, she acknowledges that she may revisit the beloved characters of “Daughter of Ruins” in the future, should the opportunity arise. For now, she is ready to embark on a new literary journey that continues to explore the rich tapestry of Greek history and mythology.
