OMAHA, Neb. — Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen sustained injuries on Sunday after being thrown from a horse and is expected to be hospitalized for a few days.

The incident occurred while Pillen was riding with his family, and he was thrown off a new horse, resulting in injuries, as reported by the governor’s office. He was initially taken to a hospital in Columbus, Nebraska, and later transferred to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Despite the mishap, the governor is conscious and alert and has been in communication with his staff. He is set to undergo treatment at the Omaha hospital for the next several days.

Jim Pillen, aged 68, assumed office as governor in 2022. Prior to his gubernatorial role, he worked as a veterinarian and owned a livestock business.
