New Video Shows Bumbling Burglars Smash Through Queens Drug Store, Leave Empty-Handed
A new surveillance video has captured the moment when a pair of burglars used a crowbar to smash through the glass door of a drug store in Queens, but ended up leaving empty-handed, according to police reports.
The incident took place around 6 a.m. on December 15 at a pharmacy located on 108th Street near 45th Avenue in Corona. The duo attempted to break the roll-down gate of the store before one of the suspects used a crowbar to try and pick or break the lock, without success. Eventually, his accomplice managed to smash one of the glass doors, allowing them to enter the store.
Despite gaining access to the pharmacy, the clumsy pair failed to steal anything and fled the scene. This failed burglary is part of a larger pattern of criminal activity that has spanned over two weeks, involving a total of eight incidents where the suspects, sometimes accompanied by a third accomplice, managed to steal over $3,000, lottery tickets, and drugs.
The string of heists began on December 6 when one of the men broke into another drug store on Main Street near 72nd Drive in Kew Gardens. Two other individuals then entered the store and stole cash and lottery tickets. Subsequent incidents included break-ins at pharmacies in Fresh Meadows, Woodside, and Astoria, where the suspects attempted to steal money from registers but were unsuccessful.
The burglaries continued on December 15 when one suspect successfully stole $400 from a drug store in Woodside, while two others targeted a pharmacy in Forest Hills and made off with various narcotics. The final burglary occurred on December 20 in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, where the suspects managed to steal $2,400 and drugs from a pharmacy.
Despite the surveillance footage and the series of incidents, no arrests have been made in connection to these crimes. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. Reports can also be made online through the Crime Stoppers website or via @NYPDTips on social media.
The police are actively seeking information to apprehend the suspects involved in these burglaries and prevent further criminal activity in the area.
