Two Men Stabbed in Separate Attacks on NYC Subway

Two men were stabbed within the city’s subway in separate Wednesday morning attacks as transit violence spilled over into the new year, according to police reports.

At around 9:30 a.m., a 30-year-old man was involved in an argument with another commuter on the No. 1 train platform at 110th Street-Cathedral Parkway. The altercation escalated, leading to the other individual stabbing him once in the arm. The victim was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside and is currently in stable condition.

It remains unclear if the two men were acquainted with each other. The assailant fled the scene, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

Shortly after, around 9:45 a.m., a 31-year-old man was stabbed in the back on a northbound No. 2 train at the 14th Street station. He was promptly transported to Bellevue Hospital, where his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.

The perpetrator in this incident also remains at large, with no arrests made thus far.

These stabbings add to a series of violent episodes within the city’s transit system in recent weeks. In a separate incident on Monday, a man was pushed into the path of an oncoming No. 1 train at 18th Street.

The victim survived with only a head injury, and the alleged assailant, Kamel Hawkins, 23, was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

These incidents contribute to a disturbing trend of violence in the city’s subway system, including the tragic torching death of a sleeping passenger on an F train in Brooklyn on December 22.
