The John Michael Kohler Arts Center’s prestigious Arts/Industry program is now accepting applications for its 2026 residency openings. This renowned program, which has been running for 50 years, offers artists from around the world the opportunity to work in the unique environment of the Kohler Co. factory in Kohler, Wisconsin.

The Arts/Industry program provides artists with the chance to explore new ideas, processes, and perspectives while creating work using the resources and materials of the Kohler Co. factory. Artists-in-residence have access to studio space in the industrial foundry and pottery, as well as 24-hour access to equipment, technical assistance, housing, transportation, and a weekly stipend.

One of the key features of the Arts/Industry program is its openness to artists from all disciplines, regardless of their experience working with metal or clay. The program encourages artists to experiment with new materials and processes, using the cutting-edge facilities and technologies available at Kohler Co.

Each residency period hosts four artists, with two working in the pottery and two in the foundry. Artists are expected to commit to a full three-month residency, during which they will have the opportunity to collaborate with skilled craftspeople at Kohler Co. and push the boundaries of their practice.
