Over 600 Flights Affected by Snow at Denver International Airport

On Sunday, just under 600 flights were either canceled or delayed at Denver International Airport due to light snowfall across the mountains and Front Range. With temperatures below freezing statewide, the impact on air travel was significant.

By 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, data from flight tracking software FlightAware showed that 496 flights at DIA were delayed and 96 were canceled.

While the numbers were lower compared to Saturday, when over 1,100 flights were delayed and 70 were canceled, the total for the weekend stood at nearly 1,800 affected flights.

United Airlines led in flight delays over the weekend with 364 on Saturday and 139 on Sunday, followed closely by Southwest Airlines with 353 delays on Saturday and 148 on Sunday.

Various other airlines, including Frontier, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and Delta, also experienced delays at DIA during the weekend.

SkyWest, which operates United Express, had the highest number of cancellations on both days with 41 on Saturday and 36 on Sunday. United and Southwest each canceled 42 flights over the weekend, overshadowing Frontier’s two cancellations.
