Hector David Rivera, known for his role as the green Power Ranger in the popular franchise, has been sentenced to 45 days in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of misdemeanor battery. The assault, which was captured on camera in Nampa, Idaho in July 2024, showed Rivera violently shoving an elderly man using a walker to the ground in a parking lot altercation.

Initially facing a 180-day prison sentence, Rivera will only serve 45 days behind bars as Canyon County Court Judge Matthew B. Schelstrate suspended 135 days of his sentence. In addition to prison time, Rivera was ordered to complete two years of supervised probation and 100 hours of community service.

The incident, which stemmed from a dispute over a handicapped parking spot, was recorded by a bystander and quickly gained attention online. Nampa Police Department identified Rivera as the suspect after posting the video online, leading to his arrest.

Despite his role as a superhero on screen, Rivera’s actions in real life were far from heroic. The elderly victim was unharmed in the attack, but Rivera’s violent behavior was met with public outrage and swift legal action.

Before the assault, Rivera was scheduled to appear at a comic convention but did not attend. Since his time as a Power Ranger, he has continued to act in various productions, including a role in the 2024 Netflix film “The Merry Gentleman.”

The incident serves as a reminder that celebrities are not above the law and must be held accountable for their actions. Rivera’s sentence sends a clear message that violence against vulnerable individuals will not be tolerated, regardless of one’s status in the entertainment industry.
