A gang of young burglars with baby-faced appearances has struck two homes in Queens, carrying out audacious heists that left one resident beaten with a hammer and stabbed. The incident occurred on 147th Place in Flushing, where the nine intruders, all wearing face masks and some clad in winter coats, forcefully entered a home by breaking the front window with a hammer around 1 a.m. on a Sunday.
Once inside, they viciously attacked a 37-year-old man, striking him with a hammer and stabbing him in the back before looting jewelry and clothing and fleeing in a gray Toyota Sienna. The victim was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital and is currently in stable condition.
Surveillance footage captured the violent crew, seemingly teenagers, on the home’s stoop, one brandishing a hammer and another wielding a knife as snowflakes fell around them. This was not their first burglary, as they had targeted another home on the same street just hours into the new year, around 3 a.m. on New Year’s Day. In that incident, they broke into the living room window, stealing around $25,000 and a bracelet before making their escape in a gray vehicle.
Despite the brazen nature of their crimes, no arrests have been made as of Friday, prompting the NYPD to seek the public’s assistance in identifying and apprehending the suspects. Anyone with information is urged to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or in Spanish at 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips can also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website or via @NYPDTips on social media.
The NYPD is actively pursuing leads to bring these dangerous burglars to justice and ensure the safety of residents in Queens.
