Bomb Threat Leads to Early Dismissal at Wheat Ridge High School

A bomb threat on Friday morning prompted the early dismissal of students at Wheat Ridge High School and led to the interrogation of a teenage girl by police.

According to Wheat Ridge Police Department spokesperson Alex Rose, officers were alerted by the FBI about a social media threat targeting the school around 9:15 a.m.

Police took one girl into custody, and students were evacuated as a precaution before 11:15 a.m., Rose confirmed.

Specialists from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado State Patrol conducted a thorough search of the school using bomb-sniffing dogs, but no explosives were found.

Rose highlighted the unique community aspect of Wheat Ridge High School, where many students live within walking distance, allowing them to walk home after the evacuation.

Parents were promptly informed of the incident and advised to pick up their children before the police department’s social media update at 11:28 a.m.

Rose mentioned that formal charges have not been recommended for the girl yet, but the possibility of false reporting of explosives, a Class 6 felony, is being considered.
