Silk Road Founder Ross Ulbricht Thanks President Trump for Pardon
Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht expressed his gratitude to President Trump on Thursday in his first public remarks since being pardoned from a life sentence. Ulbricht, who was serving a double life sentence plus 40 years for his involvement in the dark web marketplace, thanked Trump for granting him the pardon.
In a video posted on X, Ulbricht stated, “Last night, Donald Trump granted me a full pardon. I was doing life without parole and I was locked up for more than 11 years. But he let me out. I’m a free man now. So let it be known that Donald Trump is a man of his word.”
Trump had criticized the harsh sentence given to Ulbricht and had promised to release him. Ulbricht expressed his gratitude to Trump for the pardon and his second chance at life.
Ulbricht’s release was also seen as a victory for the Libertarian Movement, which had supported his cause for years. Libertarians consider Ulbricht a Bitcoin pioneer and a hero of the free market.
Ulbricht expressed his plans to spend time with his family and re-engage with the free world after his release. He described his first few days as a free man as both amazing and overwhelming.
