The second season of “The Night Agent” has taken Netflix by storm, becoming the most-watched series during the week of Jan. 20-26. With a staggering 13.9 million views within the first four days of its release, the show has captured the attention of viewers worldwide.
The success of Season 2 comes as no surprise, considering the performance of Season 1 when it premiered in 2023. Season 1 quickly climbed the ranks to land at No. 7 on Netflix’s list of the most popular English-language TV series of all time, garnering 98.2 million views within the first 91 days of streaming. However, the debut of Season 2 did not quite match the explosive start of Season 1, which saw 168.7 million hours watched in its first four days before Netflix began ranking viewership in terms of views. When divided by the season’s total runtime of 8 hours and 11 minutes, Season 1’s opening weekend amounted to 20.6 million views, surpassing Season 2’s 13.9 million.
The release of Season 2 also reignited interest in Season 1, which secured fourth place with 4.9 million views. It trailed behind “XO, Kitty” Season 2 with 9.2 million views in its second week on the chart, and “American Primeval” with 6.7 million views in its third week. Following closely was “Missing You,” claiming fifth place with 3.2 million views in its fourth week on the chart.
While “The Night Agent” dominated the TV series charts, the top spot overall belonged to the movie category. “Back in Action,” starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz, maintained its No. 1 position for the second consecutive week with 46.8 million views. Notable mentions include “Squid Game” Season 2 leading the non-English-language TV list for the fifth week with 7.9 million views, and “Ad Vitam” topping the non-English-language films list for the third week running with 8.4 million views.
On the English-language TV chart, “Raw” continued to draw viewers, debuting at No. 7 with 3 million views. Following closely was the premiere of “W.A.G.s to Riches” with 2.3 million views, and Season 2 of “Castlevania: Nocturne” with 1.9 million views in its second week on the chart. Rounding out the top 10 was Season 1 of “The Recruit,” led by Noah Centineo, making a return to the chart with 1.9 million views as anticipation builds for the release of Season 2 on Jan. 30.
As audiences eagerly await more thrilling content, the Netflix Top 10 for Jan. 20-26 promises an exciting lineup of entertainment. Stay tuned for more updates and releases in the coming weeks.
