RFK Jr. to give any Gardasil litigation fees to his son

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was nominated by President Trump to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, has made a decision to give away the fees he could potentially earn from litigation involving Merck’s HPV vaccine Gardasil. Instead of keeping the fees for himself, Kennedy has chosen to allocate them to one of his sons.

Kennedy has a longstanding relationship with the law firm Wisner Baum, having referred “many hundreds of cases” to them, including those related to Gardasil. As per his response to the Senate Finance Committee, Kennedy is entitled to 10% of the fees that Wisner Baum earns from these cases, whether through settlement, judgement, or other means.

Financial disclosures reveal that Kennedy received $856,559 in referral fees from Wisner Baum from the beginning of 2023 through Dec. 21. However, it’s important to note that none of these fees were from vaccine litigation, as reported by The New York Times. Furthermore, Kennedy assured senators that he has not received any fees from the Gardasil lawsuits.

The decision to donate the potential earnings from litigation to his son showcases Kennedy’s dedication to transparency and ethical practices. It also highlights his commitment to ensuring that there is no conflict of interest in his role as the head of the Department of Health and Human Services.
