Simon Laveuve’s Intriguing Miniature Sculptures Imagine Post-Apocalyptic Dwellings

Simon Laveuve’s sculptures are a sight to behold, each one telling a unique story of an anonymous life. Whether covered in graffiti, adorned with moss, or embellished with random trinkets, his creations offer a glimpse into a world of mystery and wonder. Crafted at a tiny 1/35 scale, Laveuve’s sculptures are filled with intricate details like tables, windows, paintings, and other household objects, creating a multi-story world that beckons exploration.

In his latest works, Laveuve continues his signature style of assemblage, envisioning a post-apocalyptic reality where the most basic necessities provide for a simple existence. Take, for example, his piece titled “D’un bout à l’autre,” which translates to “from one end to the other.” This structure appears to have emerged from the ruins of a long-forgotten bridge, with a swampy base littered with old tires and debris. Above, a narrow three-story shack offers a glimpse into a life stripped down to its essentials.

In this imagined world, there is no electricity grid or internet. Instead, a windmill powers a fan and a refrigerator, while a tank stores precious water. Laveuve’s work taps into a nostalgic “future past,” where outdated equipment like gramophones and metal milk jugs take center stage, reminding us of simpler times.

If you find yourself in Paris, don’t miss Laveuve’s solo exhibition titled “Voir Loin” at the Loo & Lou Gallery, running until March 1. His work is also featured in “Small Is Beautiful,” currently on display in Taipei. To explore more of Laveuve’s miniature worlds, visit his website and follow him on Instagram for a closer look at his captivating creations.

From detailed interiors to weathered exteriors, Laveuve’s sculptures transport viewers to a world where imagination knows no bounds. Each piece invites us to ponder the lives that could have inhabited these tiny dwellings, sparking curiosity and intrigue at every turn. Experience the artistry of Simon Laveuve and immerse yourself in a miniature universe unlike any other.
