Federal Judge Blocks DOGE Department from Accessing Sensitive Treasury Department Payment Records

U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly

A federal judge, Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, issued a ruling on Friday prohibiting the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from accessing sensitive Treasury Department payment records. The order states that Treasury officials are not allowed to provide access to any payment record or payment system maintained within the Bureau of Fiscal Service.

The decision follows a lawsuit filed by government employee unions challenging the access to the materials. The lawsuit alleged that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent improperly granted access to Elon Musk’s team, potentially compromising personal financial information.

The Justice Department has agreed to limit access to the sensitive records to two special government employees within DOGE, who will have read-only permission, as reported by Fox News.

Previous investigations by the DOGE team revealed concerning practices at Treasury, where payment approval officers were instructed to approve payments to known fraudulent or terrorist groups without question. David Lebryk, a top-ranking career official at the U.S. Treasury Department, has announced his departure following these revelations.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
