A tragic incident involving the death of Fort Campbell soldier, US Army Private First Class Katia Dueñas Aguilar, has led to charges being filed against two individuals. Sofia Rodas, 35, has been charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, while Aguilar’s husband, Reynaldo Salinas Cruz, 40, has been charged with tampering with evidence in connection with her death. Both individuals were already in custody on unrelated federal charges and were extradited to Clarksville to face the new charges.

The body of Aguilar was discovered in her home in Clarksville, Tennessee, back in May. Aguilar, originally from Mesquite, Texas, had enlisted in the Army in 2018 and was assigned to the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell.

An autopsy report revealed that Aguilar had suffered a staggering 68 stab wounds to her neck and upper body, with the cause of death determined to be a homicide as a result of sharp-force injuries to the neck.

The details surrounding the charges against Rodas and Salinas Cruz have not been made public at this time. The lawyers representing the accused individuals in their federal cases have not yet responded to requests for comment.

The tragic loss of Aguilar has shocked the community and the military base where she served. The investigation into her death is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to ensure that justice is served for Aguilar and her loved ones.
