The much-anticipated return of the “Dragon Ball Super” manga was teased on Monday, February 10, 2025, with a sneak peek shared on the franchise’s official YouTube channel. Fans were treated to a first look at the upcoming one-shot, set to be released on Thursday, February 20, 2025. While the details of the one-shot were previously announced at Jump Festa 2025, this latest glimpse offered a fresh perspective on what to expect.

Despite the excitement surrounding the return of “Dragon Ball Super,” it remains uncertain whether the one-shot will signal a return to regular serialization. The latest “Weekly Dragon Ball News” video hinted at more information to come on Thursday, February 13, possibly unveiling additional draft sketches of pages for the upcoming manga. This practice was common before the series went on hiatus following the tragic passing of creator Akira Toriyama in March 2024.

Speculation is rife among fans about the manga’s potential return to regular serialization, especially considering the groundwork laid for a new arc before Toriyama’s untimely death. It is believed that illustrator and now author Toyotaro has been diligently planning the series’ future during the hiatus. While there is no official confirmation of a return to regular serialization, the release of the one-shot could be seen as a promising sign.

The “Dragon Ball Super” manga originally debuted in June 2015 and was written by Toriyama until his passing. The story picks up several years after the defeat of Majin Buu but before the final episodes of the “Dragon Ball Z” anime. Toriyama, a legendary figure in the world of manga and video games, passed away at the age of 68, leaving behind a rich legacy of iconic creations.

As fans eagerly await more news on the future of “Dragon Ball Super,” the upcoming one-shot promises to reignite the excitement and anticipation for the beloved franchise. Whether the manga will return to regular serialization or continue with special releases like the one-shot remains to be seen, but one thing is certain – the spirit of “Dragon Ball” lives on.
