France TV Distribution, the sales and co-production arm of public broadcaster France Televisions Group, is gearing up to showcase Season 2 of the hit comedy series “Aspergirl” at the upcoming edition of Mip London, scheduled for February 23-27. The show, distributed worldwide by France TV Distribution, is one of the most anticipated releases from the country’s leading TV exporter.
Produced by Paris-based Patafilm, founded by entrepreneur Antonin Ehrenberg, in collaboration with Belgium’s Velvet Films, Season 2 of “Aspergirl” is set to continue the story of Louison, a single mother who discovers she has autism spectrum disorder after her son Guilhem is diagnosed with the same condition. The show stars French actress Nicole Ferroni in the lead role of Louison.
The new season, comprised of eight episodes at 22 minutes each, began filming in September in Angoulême and is expected to be completed by the fall. In Season 2, Louison finds herself in a new chapter of her life, as she navigates a complex relationship with her son Guilhem and her partner Marica, an environmental activist. Guilhem’s decision to join a program to settle on Mars adds a new layer of tension to their already complicated dynamic.
Created by Judith Godinot and Hadrien Cousin, with additional writing by Chloé Lefour and Claire Saint-Pierre, Season 2 of “Aspergirl” is directed by Alice and Rose Philippon. The show has already garnered critical acclaim, with a best actor award for Carel Brown in the first season. Arthur de Crépy takes on the role of Guilhem in Season 2.
The new season also features a talented ensemble cast, including Louise Massin, Suzanne de Baecque, Marc Fraize, Alexandre Steiger, Mani Choukrane, Chaili Soufir, and Eva Rami. Viewers in France can catch the premiere of “Aspergirl” Season 2 on Ciné+OCS, the pay TV operator owned by Canal + Group.
